Looking at heading south with the family the March Break to do some kayak training and hiking with my 13 year old daughter. Have a place to stay in Charleston West Virgina. Need to know about water temperature that time of year, first week of March. Is there any ice? What would the current be like, is it easy to paddle in both directions? Kanawha river in immediate vicinity of Charleston West Virgina but also might use that as a base and do some hiking/camping/paddling/trail running further afield. We are mostly flat water paddlers but don't mind a little white water. We will be doing a race in Hull Massachusetts March 2, 2013 on the drive down. We are training for flat-water, downriver, and surfski type paddling, but mostly for general fitness and adventure. Haven't decides which boat or boats bring yet. Building a few this winter.

Any info, advice, and revenge humour is welcome...
