I'm nobo and heading out in late May. I'm going to start with my 50 degree rei travel sack (it's been my go to summer bag forever) but I'm wondering where/ if I'll need to get a warmer bag sent up? and if i do, what bag ? Planning on finishing in mid October if that helps any
When it starts to get cold or when you reach Glencliff NH.
It'll likely start to become nippy after Hanover, NH. I had a cold night when camping at the ball field in Hanover on September 4th and frost on my hiking poles supporting my tent the next night. So if you're a warm sleeper you'll want to pick up your warm bag no later than Glencliff, NH. If you're a cold sleeper I'd pick up your warmer bag in Hanover, NH.

I used that REI travel sack, and a liner, when I started my SOBO late July. I swapped for my cold weather bag by September, just into NH, which ended being good timing. Going through the NH and the Whites required some warmer gear, as I was already seeing freezing temps at night before Oct. 1.
For you, I'd say early-mid September, or some time in Vermont.
