I am in the market for a lightweight 2 person tent. I am 6ft 200 and she is 5'10 140. I have looked at a few seedhouse sl2 which i have an sl1 of and really like it, copper spur ul 2, and similar but cant really decide on one. Does anybody have a recommendation? I want to stay under 4lbs and prefer it to be a tent with vestibule. thanks

Your looking in the right direction with that CS UL2. You both would have your own door and vestibule under 4lbs.

I have a Big Agnes Seed House 2 with footprint for sale for $200 shipped. The reason that I'm selling this tent
is because I bought a BA Fly Creek 2 to save some weight. Otherwise--I love the BA SH2--it is absolutely bullet proof.

I was thinking the copper spur originally, i read pretty many reviews that said it was a fair weather tent and that has got me wondering.

Plenty of room, double doors and double vestibule this is the best bang for the buck...not too bad shared between two at just over two pounds a piece...the single walled tents for two weigh about the same because you can't share the load...

"the single walled tents for two weigh about the same because you can't share the load... "
you can share the load of ANY tent...
The tent is 4 lbs.
You carry the tent and give 2 lbs of your weight to the other guy.

That would be cool...if we were also sharing the cost... :)

I had the copper spur ul2 and it was plenty tough with the rainfly. Unfortunately, it was a bit cramped for my 14 year old son and I. We have since switched to the Flycreek ul3 and it is perfect. Easy to setup and tons of room for under 4 lbs. The single door is the only thing that I have found to be a negative compared to the CS ul2, but the added space more than makes up for it.

I have a REI Quarter Dome UL which is around 4lbs. Floor space is 85x52, and being 6'1", have no problem with the room, even with a second person. Makes for a roomy 1 person, or cozy 2 person. Rainfly provides plenty of vestibule space on both sides of tent. Is 'technically' a 3 season, but I've used it in winter, and it worked well enough. Watch out if it snows more than 6" during the night though. Snow build up caused the fly to slump a bit. Was rather wet snow though...

After countless hours of research last year (mostly at work) my gf and I went with the Golite Shangri-La 2, and it was awesome: affordable, adaptable, and very comfortable. None on sale right now though so I guess you'll just have to postpone the trip.

Although if I had the coin, I probably would go with the lightheart Solong.

Nevermind, I guess Golite stopped making the Shangri-La 2

Brown Chicken and I did the AT in the SL2 last yeah. It worked great though climbing over both our gear and each other to use the door was a bit of a pain. I was kind of jealous of these with their two door: http://www.lightheartgear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=12

Bought that and posted review and pics, I think you can search for Big Agnes Scout UL2 and find it. Great cost/weight ratio, but some drawbacks for some situations. We're keeping it, will see how it goes.

Your both tall. I have a Fly Creek UL 3. Plenty of space for two adults and some gear. The UL2 would be cramped. I use it to hike with my dog.

Well i ordered the fly creek and it is very nice and roomy. Now im on backcountry today browsing around and i see big agnes releases the seedhouse sl3 for 2013. Tlak about throwing a wrench in my plans. I own a seedhouse sl1 and it is a better product i feel than the fly creek. The question is do i switch out to the seedhouse? only 5oz heavier but has 4sqft more in tent and 2sqft more in vestibule.

I have a Hubba and a Hubba Hubba. At about 4 pounds with the foot print I'm happy to carry the Hubba Hubba all day long to be rewarded with the space and comfort it provides. The Hubba is also very nice but quit cramped.

If two people are using sleeping in the tent, you absolutely need two (2) doors!
I use and love the Big Agnes Copper Spur UL2 $360 w/free footprint (http://www.humbleoutdoors.com). This tent with the footprint and stuff sack comes in well under 4lbs.

My money would be on the fly Creek UL2, I have the UL1 and have used it for 6 months per year for 3 years, will start the AT with it this year
and see if it makes another thru hike.

Hi SwordpenNo , the CB3 is the new version of that one.
If you are after a double you could look at the Squall 2 (you can get "substitute poles" if not using trekking poles) otherwise the Double Rainbow.
The CB3 is about 10oz heavier than the ones above but it offers a lot more usable space.
Personally I see it as a great shelter for two guys or a couple that likes some extra space particularly in rainy areas where you might be stuck inside the shelter for an extended period of time.
nice also for parents and a kid or dog .
