Want to leave a vehicle in Gatlinburg for a good two weeks. It has been suggested to use Sugarland Visitor Center? Haven't called there yet to check but wondering if that is good or looking for other suggestions.

Sugarlands would be a good option, but if you're hiking the AT NF Gap is a good place to park.

We need more info, like, where are you going (start-stop points)?

I'm doing Springer to Newfound, leaving my vehicle there (assumed Gatlinburg?), then we are heading to Franklin in my buddys vehicle (he will be hiking with me from Springer to Franklin), will leave his vehicle at Franklin, we have a shuttle lined up to get us from Franklin to Springer. Just looking for the best, safest place to leave my vehicle when I arrive at Newfound.

Have parked my car at NFG many times without any problems.

Please let the Park Service know your car is at Newfound Gap if you choose to leave it there, so that they don't start a search for missing persons. Also be aware that 441 is closed between Cherokee and Newfound Gap due to a massive landslide.

Thanks, I was not aware I could leave it there for a couple of weeks? Is there a limit to the number of days it can be parked there?

Thanks, would you happen to have the phone number for the Park Service there?

Smokies Backcountry 865-436-1297 make sure to also ask them about any shelter or campsite closures before your trip & if there are any other updates that you should be aware of. Have a Great Hike!
