Snow just makes the trek more challenging. If there are winds too, well, that is even more exciting. Both will happen. Being prepared helps.

In the South here we have what they call blackberry winter. It's when you look out at the blackberry flowers and they are covered in snow. Blackberry's flower in mid April. So if you are a thru-hiker and start in April you will on most years see a little snow somewhere. It was April 24th last year.
