I'm starting April 21stish. Maybe a day or two earlier....I think I'm getting Green Tunnel Fever which can only be cured by long walks in the woods over pointless ups and downs, a view or two followed by a cheeseburger, pizza and beer.

I started on April 19th last year and there were plenty of people to hike with. We were at the tail end of the bubble and I'm not the fastest hiker so we missed a lot of hiker services, like some free shuttles in Franklin that had previously been available, but otherwise, the only way to be alone was to camp away from the shelters.

I'm looking for a hiking partner/small group to travel with as well. Partner/more people = less for each of us to carry, less to spend on motels or splitting rare town food like pizza n whatnot. Contact me if your interested in leaving around that time and want someone to at least start off with. I'm 26, an avid hiker, and have completed the local Buckeye trail here in ohio.

In one way missing the bubble is good. The shelters are less crowded, easier to get a room in the Trail towns and if you hike fast enough you'll pass/meet a lot of hikers as the bubble gets smaller and more drawn out.
