So Dave Horton attempting to run the entire PCT in 63 days. Hmm.. Doesn't sound like much fun to me. :-? But I guess it'll be interesting to see if he makes it. (he did run the entire AT in 1991)

David Horton Attempts New PCT Record
When David Horton attempts to set a new speed record on the Pacific Crest Trail, he won’t be going it alone. Th 55-year old ultrarunner from Lynchburg, Virginia ha invited others to join him – in spirit and in person – as he speeds the length of the 2,650-mile trail, which run from the Mexican to Canadian border. Horton plans to run the trail in just 63 days, averaging 42 miles per day He will run from dawn to dusk, averaging 12 hours a da on the trail, hoping to finish August 5th at the terminus of the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) near the Canadian/U.S. border at Manning Park, British Columbia.

You don't know Horton. I do. This kind of stuff IS fun to him.

Well ...if there still is any snow on the ground when he passes through he'll melt it at that blazing pace.

Guess you carry less food with you at that rate since you can get to towns a lot faster.

The thrill is different. The experience is different. Pushing oneself beyond known limits is something that is rarely done, and for that I cheer Horton. There is so little of it in this world. Finding out what is inside yourself is important and he is trying to do this in his own way. Honors or public sentiment is not strong enough to push someone to do these things. Rather, it is an internal reward. And that is worthy.

It's a lot like hiking the AT (without the town stops) only more extreme!
