While in Monson this week I heard from Tim at the General Store of a death on Barren Mt. several days previous. This was news to me and my trail overseer who lives in Monson apparently had not heard anything about it. On June 9th my local paper published an obit for Anthony A. Robinson, age 26 of Oakland, Maine who died "while hiking the Appalachian Trail in Monson with his dad." I am somewhat surprised to not hear of this event in various trail sources. Does anyone have more details?

It's terrible Anthony died, but I can't help feeling bad for the father, imagining how I'd feel if hiking with my son and he collapsed on the trail.
From the obituary llink Old Fhart posted, I see that the son was ill, but was an adventurous spirit, continuing to ski, etc against doctor's orders. You have to admire him, never giving up.
