a montbell thermal wrap, full zipper, w/ 2 side pockets, 100% polyester insulation AND a patagonia nano-puff sweater (jacket) w/ 3/4 zip and full collar, no side pocket but 1 chest pocket where jacket stuffs into, 100% polyester insulation?

what's the difference? 1 warmer than the other?

thanks for your help,
dottie

I believe the insulation (thickness) of the nano puff is greater.
The nano puff will have a squarish boxier fit, the montbell a slimmer athletic fit.
If you are slim and trim, you will be happier with the montbell for a hiking garment most likely.
If you are quite chubby, you will prefer the nano puffs cut.
Other than that, probably comes down to if you like pocket to put your hands in.

Neither are really what you would call warm , if you are just sitting around. Nothing like light down jacket.

I have both jackets. The Montbell weights an ounce less than the Nanopuff, but the Nanopuff is warmer. I'd also say that the Thermawrap is cut a little smaller. If you're looking for light, synthetic insulation, then I'd say that both are good choices.
