Two Questions: How far is the AT from the Standing Indian Campground and at what mile mark does it join it. Thanks

Standing Indian Campground is about 4 miles from the AT via the Kimsey Creek Trail. Nice hike, though a bit wet.

Joins the AT at Deep Gap, 85.4 miles from Springer.

That's if you want to take the long way. From Rock Gap mile 106.1, it's 1.5 miles to Standing Indian Campground.

What do you mean by a bit wet? The reason I am asking is a local hiking group is planning a hike going to Standing Indian, hiking to the AT, and hiking coming off at Winding Stair Gap, mile 104.5

What year guide are you using? Winding Stair Gap 109.8, Wallace Gap 106.7, Rock Gap 106.1, Deep Gap 85.4.

The Kimsey CREEK Trail follows a creek for a good bit. Given this wet winter, this trail may be quite wet (or icy), but it's a beautiful hike. :)

there's a nice loop hike starting at the back country kiosk. up Kimsey Creek to the AT at Deep Gap, following the AT to Glassmine Gap and then down the Long Branch trail back to the kiosk. total mileage about 22.5 miles. no shuttle required.

It almost sounds as if you are going S Bound. If that is the case, you just take the road walk in as poster Sly mentions. It is mostly downhill too. Keep in mind that the CG opens April 1 and a recent post indicated that the little campstore may not be open until after May1 and possibly only on the weekends. From what I remember of the store, there were some candybars, ice cream bars, soda, and maybe a few snacks in the way of food. During the busy period (i.e. Memorial Day) they bring in refrigerated stuff like milk, juice, hotdogs, and perhaps some bacon and lunch meats... but very limited and when it's gone they don't re-stock for a while.

The group I was going with has cancelled, but later I want to start at Dicks creek and finish at Standing Indian. Do you offer shuttles for that area?
