Planning on doing the section from Damascus to Atkins. Looking for information on possible resupply points and a place to pick up a good meal.

Support the ATC and buy their trail guide.

Well yeah, there is that, as you should buy the books, they are pretty good and clear.

Its an easy hike all and all.

Eat good and support the town of Damascus before you leave.
Buy new gear at Sundog and MRO, go to the Mill and have .91 cent beers, then go to 'Shierffs' place The Baja Cantina and eat a fatty Mexican Lunch at a really good price, then go to Dots have more beer, then go to Quinceys(Yeah I know its Sicilys) and eat some Pizza, then stop by The Place and make a donation or clean it up...its pretty much the end of Hiker season so it good uses a good sweeping.

Hike the Virginia Creeper Trail for the first 11 miles, its a few miles shorter then the AT and much prettier and easier and there are swimming holes, waterfalls, trestles from back in the day, and a Cafe 6 miles in where you can buy a hot lunch before climbing to Lost Mountain Shelter.

from here its a nice hike (long and up, but nicely graded) to the top of Buzzard Rock, where I suggest, if the weather permits, you camp...awesome aweome Sunrise sunset place, and right after it is a great big ol giant piped spring.

Onward you go to Mt Rogers and Thomas Knob shelter to eat your own food...hike hike hike, play with ponies, ride a pony, eat a pony, hike hike hike stay at old Orchard to see a great Sunset/sunrise, or stay at The New Hurricane Shelter...then, you go hitch to the East(Right) into Troutdale to eat at the nice little Cafe/resupply point and stay at the church hostel(Super good people there), if you need a hostel after only two days...dont know why you would...then its a really easy 16 to Partnership Shelter where you can order PIZZa..sweet...then its another easy hike to Atkins....dont forget to stop at The Settelers Museum, its pretty cool and you walk right through it so no reason to not stop.

Thats it.
