Exped is probably my favorite outdoor compagny. I read a few minutes ago that their new lightning will be available this march.

It already won numerous awards and it looks a.w.e.s.o.m.e ...

So I just wanted to give you the headsup.

Too bad I dont need a backpack.

Looks like another Chinese clone of some of the American gear like Golite or ULA and cost more.

...Not to mention useless to anyone who needs to carry more than 65 liters worth of stuff.

It's overpriced.

The same money can get you a Zpacks framed cuben fiber pack. Less money can get you a lighter ULA pack with more features. This Exped might be the worst deal among ultralight backpacks.

Exped is pretty great company.... NOT some imitation Chinese knock-off

They do make at least some of their gear in China though, like their pads, but their down mattresses don't have competition. The same money for their pack can buy similar packs from a few (Zpacks, Zimmer, Gossamer Gear, ULA, Elemental Horizons...) American companies that make their packs here in the United States and they come out on our trails, trail events and even our discussion forums.

Looks like great packs. What it has over the others is a completely adjustable torso! The stay is going to be better for load transfer and that belt looks like it will do a great job. Golite? Hilarious. No frame, heavy!

ULA would be the only direct competitor but I am not sure where the cost question comes in. The 60L would be bigger than the Circuit (main bag has been measured at 45L).

Any backpacking item can only be best for oneself not for all or even most.

Anyway, regarding the Made In China comments, this is a photo from the Exped mat factory there :

the couple in the foreground are the Exped owners .

You know, I have had two NeoAirs leak after just a few night use but never had my Exped mats leak. Two of them were made in Seattle and their names start with N.
