Mine came in the mail today as well. $510. I use their Visa CC for most of my purchases (REI, groceries, eating out, etc). It adds up. Plus, the manager knows my first name. Is that a bad thing?

Not bad at all. I wonder if Joe at Zpacks accepts the REI VISA card?

REI now sells Darn Tough socks. I bought me a pair of light hikers micro crew last time there.

Of course you can save a trip and buy off their website.

Go spend that moolah Tinker !!!

If you are a member you can look up your dividend on line. You don't need a dividend coupon to use at a store. They just look it up and apply it to a purchase if you tell them.

$425 and change.

We don't buy a lot there unless it's on sale, but using the REI Visa card for all expenses (and paying it off every month) makes for a decent dividend at the end of the year. Not sure what we'll do with it. If you wait until June they will send you a check, then you can spend it anywhere.

Thanks for the tip.
I had written them off as far as a supplier of superior socks. The REI brand are only good for work socks and limited hiking. They pill a lot. Of course, most people know that I hiked in Smartwools for years and noticed the gradual downward slide of their quality. Some of the lightweight socks are still ok, though.

Don't forget to couple your dividend with the 20% off coupon that's supposed to come any day now. Gonna finally buy a new FULL LENGTH inflatable pad for these old bones. :)

This weekend with the boys in LI, I bought something in REI for the first time in maybe 18/20 yrs! They gave me the pitch to join and I was not going to, but they said it was lifetime after I said I used to belong.....they looked me up....BING! there I was, 20 yr old address. That $10.00 dividend I remember being unspent was not in their computer !

Getting a whopping $13 back - returned some Big Agnes Air Core mats last year and that did in the bulk of any dividend we had. I do have a $50 gift card and I'm returning a couple more things that'll add up to about $250. I want a new pack and some hiking pants for travel - going to Peru in June. :)

It's a great thing to wander around in an outfitter and not see anything you need or want. :)Happens to me every time I go into the one in Connectiut, that store is little more than an upscale clothstores failed with some backpacks and sleeping bags piled in the corner. I was jealous when I stopped into one in Georgia that resembled a real outfitter. Doesnt matter though, as long as I use my dividend online, I can always find some new toy on their site.

Not sure what we'll do with it. If you wait until June they will send you a check, then you can spend it anywhere.+1 on the Visa card, the 1% dividend credit on all purchases adds up quick, and it's nice that my credit card company essentially gives me a new toy from REI each march.

I got $18 which I can combine with a couple of gift cards to make about $50. I 'm sure I can find something.

My largest dividend since 1986 has posted. $33.24 is burning a whole in my pocket. I think I will get a pair of socks or something.

You probably already know this but there are much better rewards cards than the REI Visa...

I use a Pentagon Federal (www.penfed.com) Platinum Cash Rewards that gives 5% cash back (no limit) on gas purchases - that really adds up, a discount of 0.18 per gallon if gas is $3.50 per gallon - and an American Express Blue Cash Preferred card which gives 6% cash back on groceries ($3600 per year limit, then 1% for groceries) and 1% cash back on everything else (it also gives 3% cash back on gas but I use the Penfed card for gas).

The Pentagon Federal card gives the cash back in the form of a credit on each monthly statement. Amex builds up each month and you can either have them mail you a check or apply the balance to your statement balance.

Sorry for the topic drift.

Us to 454.00. Time for a new Thule bike rack.

My dividend is almost always less than $1 cause almost everything I buy is on sale and thus doesn't qualify for the dividend.

I was momentarily stunned when I opened the letter and saw my dividend for $49.69. Then I remembered - it was the new Thule bike rack I bought last year. I'm still a Yakima person for the top of the car stuff; but this Thule rack is awesome.

I have had both Thule racks and Yakima, both gave me good service. I don't think I would have a preference over either.

My dividend was 50 cents. All but $5 was spent on discounted items last year. The $5 was for a Jetboil canister.

Sometimes you print that off the REI emails or when the dividend arrives the coupon is on the front page.

Didn't get my dividend notice yet, but checked on-line and saw it is $205 thanks to the REI credit card. That's enough to have some fun.

My fancy REI dividend packet came in the mail yesterday and when I opened it up, there was a certificate for $00.00. Needless to say, I was thrilled. I wonder why they bothered. Guess I didn't buy anything last year.

My husband got his and someone had torn open the envelope. I guess they thought there was really going to be money inside. I'm sure they were disappointed to find it was only a notice telling him he had $6.49.

Thankfully, mine came earlier and was for more! :D

$459 but I've bought everything I want (mostly, not from REI, most of their stuff is too heavy). Had my eye on the big agnes copper spur 1 (I have the copper spur ul2 but now that I've downsized & ultralighted my gear, its almost too big for me & the dog). But the cs ul1 is shorter in Height, so not happy with that...

wish Lightheart took rei dividends!

Unless you use the REI Visa card, which gives 5% dividend on sale items at REI. (And 1% on any non-REI purchase.)

Like I had to be reminded. Read your post this last night and was impelled this morning to get to the Atlanta REI to spend it. Almost all of my HEFTY REI dividend is now gone, THANKS TO YOU!

Gotta love the dividend and 20% off coupon.

DeLorme InTouch: $250. Store clerk had to call corporate to confirm it was eligible for the 20% off coupon - it was. $50 off. Dividend covered the rest plus there is a $50 mail-in rebate.

And it was perfect timing to return my REI carbon fiber hiking poles since one of them broke last week. Walked out of the store with close to $400 in merchandise for a $40 charge. And I still have that $50 rebate... Not a bad day of shopping.
