I am 19 and still in college and do not have much money so I thought it wise to search for a way to get good books to read. I have read 3 books already including a walk in the woods. I am seriously considering a southbound thru hike in the summer of 07. ALL BOOKS WOULD BE APPRECIATED and i would gladly pay for them. I will look at this post soon and my screenname for instant messager is sherbi5. Thanks.

Sherbi5,

What about checking with your college library or county public library? Also, check at Amazon.com or half.com and you can often at both sites find used books well below the cost of new.

I have and/or have read several books about the trail. Some favorites that I would recommend are:

"Walkin on the Happy Side of Misery" by J.R. "Model-T" Tate
New at Amazon @ $26.99
Used at Amazon @ $21.00
Half.com used @ $22.00

"Walking the Appalachian Trail" by Larry Luxenberg
New at Amazon @ $11.53
Used at Amazon @ $7.50
Half.com used @ $6.24

"As Far As the Eye Can See" by David Brill
New at Amazon @ $11.01
Used at Amazon @ $9.95
Half.com used @ $6.95

Best of luck with your plans for 2007. I hope it works out for you!

Tripp

"On the Beaten Path" by Robert Rubin
New at Amazon @ $11.53
Used at Amazon @ $6.69
Half.com used @ $4.49
