I'm debating which type of Water treatment I want to use on the trail. Open to ideas.

Will I need to purify on the southern half of the AT, (that is to say should I be wary of viruses in the water?) or is filtration enough.

Thanks in advance!

From what I've read here over the past 3 years, filtration is enough.

Filtration is more than enough.

Generally, simple disinfection is fine. Many will rightfully argue that.

On the AT as long as you are reasonably careful in your selection of water sources, any of the commercially available products will work fine.

Filter, Aquamira, Steripen, Polar Pure (if you can find it). They all work fine.

Do not get water from rivers or streams that run through towns, cities, or farms, and you will be fine. Just stop and ask yourself, what is uphill of this water.
