A few things missing are: spork, deet, wipes, food bag, dry bag for clothes, collapsible water bag, duct tape.

One thing that concerns me is cold. Is a compression shirt, terramar top heat gear, magellan nylon long sleeve, and frogg toggs enough? Should i get a down jacket too?

Another thing, the frogg toggs while light don't seem to compress well at all.

I should note that the shoes aren't included in the total weight. I also should of left off the clothes that i'll be actually wearing. Therefore, my real pack weight right now is probably around 16 lbs.

Oh yeah, my goal weight before food was 20 lbs.

btw ... is there a way to edit posts?

That's not bad. You can save a small amount of weight by using a bounce box for some of the pages in your guidebook, some of the first aid kit and your syringe. Your fire starter may be excessive. A mini bic should be more than enough, especially since there will other hikers at the shelters with all sorts of firestarters. I've come to consider the first aid kit to be a community kit, which can allow you to carry a little less. That is, when someone needs first aid, there are plenty of people to offer things from their first aid kit.

Pretty good.

Don't forget a pack liner and maybe pack cover.

Throw in a couple of extra tent stakes to make up for the ones that inevitably get lost.. :)

Trash bag for trash.

You don't really need a backup light or tent footprint (though there are people who always take a FP).

You can make a FAK that only has what you think you'll need - band aids, small Neosporin, etc..

Agree with Leaftye about the fire starter - just take a mini-bic. 2 if you feel like you need a backup.

Lots of personal preference stuff - I wouldn't carry a Jetboil because of the weight.

Don't forget the duct tape so you can repair your Frogg Toggs.

Do either of yall think i need a down jacket?

- Im gonna ditch the fire starter and probably the second light.

DEFINITELY need a heavier jacket. Reportedly 6 degrees on Roan Mtn today.

So far, this has been a very cold "spring" in many parts of the country.

Sunscreen. SPF 50. 5 oz. size minimum. Resupply often. Don't leave home without it.
