Seems my pack weight has ballooned since I started piecing my gear together at the beginning of the month. My start date is April 1st, one week away!
The weight 23.2 lbs includes everything (pack itself, shoes, all clothes) except my hiking poles.

About the shoes:
I figured it would be good to start with my Marrell Moab Mids till it gets a little warmer to send them home and then continue with just the Barefoot trail gloves. I'm just scared the meshy Barefoots won't be much fun in any cold spring rain. (I prefer to wear the Injinji socks with my Moabs and the Darn Tough socks with my Barefoots, hence all the socks).
About the water:
I was originally going to use 2x Smartwater bottles on the sides of my pack and the 2L Platypus for camp water, but the way the pack sits on me I can't actually grab the bottles from the sides, so it was either go hydration bladder or remove my pack every time I wanted a sip of water! As soon as I went that route I figured I might as well include a 2oz Sawyer inline filter so I don't have to wait for the Aquamira to work, just open and scoop water. I still feel like I should bring the Aquamira as backup though.
Questions:
1. Should I ditch the gym shorts as I'm bringing convertible pants?
2. Do I need a fleece sweatshirt if I'm bringing a down jacket? I've been hiking around NY and it's been in the 30's and wearing the shirt base layer & down jacket is more than enough when hiking, usually have the down jacket zipped 1/2 way down or more.
3. Should I ditch the poop trowel?
Any and all comments welcome!
