Just wondering who is leading the class of 2013 so far. Is there a group of people that seems to be furthest (at least for NOBO Thruhikers)?

LOL... that's good!! I agree, I like to follow the ones that show promise but you know it's not as easy as "just walkin" for them. Personally, I'm following a band of geriatric gypsies ! ;)

Haaa, haaaa, haaaa..."Geriatric Gypsies...that's AWESOME!!! I would be honored to walk with such a band! When I first started thinking of trail names the first one that came to mind was
HURTS-A-LOT. :p But in the end, Special K won out.

I've been following Bazinga's journal, and also Chin Music. Good reading! Best wishes to them both, and all those on the trail.

+1 for Bazinga. Did a couple shakedown hikes with him. Humble guy that is living his dream after retirement and is loving every second of it. One of those guys that respects the trail and is kind to it. Hope the trail reciprocates.

Younger hikers seem badly under-represented on this thread so far, so for some balance I'll recommend the journal of Shepherd:

http://www.trailjournals.com/entry.cfm?id=401013

It's very thorough, he's got a sense of humor, and he knows his photography (and contra-dancing).

Rash has kept me coming back every night to check his progress. Seems to be making good decisions on when to back off and also has a great positive attitude.

I check everyday for updates from Dave Shoupe No trail name yet, awesome journals! I believe he will track down Bazinga, and Rash as he keeps moving. Hell Dave broke trail through knee high snow in the smokies. Sorry, selfless plug for my buddy, seeing as how I dropped him off at amiacola and followed him up to the second hike inn cut-off I have a vested interest. Go Dave.

Does anyone follow any journals of people who started late (early April-not yet started yet). I start on the 19th and want to find journals of people I might come across. Mine is at: http://dubsontheat.wordpress.com

I'm following Josh, 'specially after the threadstorm he caused. He's keeping on his big mile days to start, so I'm curious to see how long he can push it. I hope all the way. Gonna be a tough journey for him. Pretty much cooking along at the moment with 32+ average days. His buddy (Josh as well) jacked his ankle and had to dip. That sucks.

Contra dancing? Must have a Warren Doyle influence. If so, I bet he goes all the way.

Aah. I just saw some late March entries and figured he was trying to move again. I went and read the latest entry. Oh well, at least he made it 500 some miles.

I'm new to these forums and would like some help. I checked out the journals section but did not see a list of names of people keeping journals. I also did not see a way to tag one so I can follow it.

Is there a way to do these things? If so, what is it?

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me.

I'm starting April 17. Not sure what kind of mileage I'll be pulling early on, so you'll likely catch me if you do more than 10-12 a day. Anyway, see you out there and happy walking!

I enjoy ChinMusic Journal. His writing is natural and fun to follow and honest. His last picture compared to the first shows he has lost some serious pounds that makes him even more handsome. I wish him a nice experience and hope he carries his humble attitude from trail to life.

I was SOBO section hiking with a group and spoke briefly to Uncorked on 5 April North of HF who was supposedly the #3 to pass thru there. I saw the #2 NOBO'er, didn't get his trail name, on 4 April but never saw #1.
