Is 14 days enough to hike from Hanover south to Mass 2. This is about 160 miles give or take. I am just not sure about the terrain in Vt.

I would like to take at least one day off during this period.

yes, that's very doable in 14 days without pushing too hard.

I also agree that 14 days will give you plenty of time to stop & smell the roses along the way. I completed the section of trail between Cheshire MA and Hanover NH via section hikes in 14 days. Three of those days were less than 5 miles per day (either first or last day of a section) and there were a couple of 10-mile days mixed in as well.

154 miles: 14 days is 11 mpd, 13 days is about 11.8 mpd. You can do it.

Going southbound you will also have plenty to choose from...foodwise!!!

Day 1 - West Hartford Village Store and Deli, Day 2 - On the Edge Farm near Woodstock, Day 3 - Mountain Meadow Lodge, Day 4 - Inn at the Long Trail, Day 5 - Whistle Stop Restaurant.

You may gain weight on this hike.

I found Vermont muddy and boring. Don't get me wrong the first couple of days are awesome and then every day after that is pretty much the same thing. Like everyone else very doable.

Try it again when the leaves have turned color. Rather stunning.

Very do-able. Southern VT has some pretty gentle terrain.

Having been to Maine during the peak foliage season I agree with you completely. Unfortunately I doubt that is ever going to happen.

I'm still hitting the Long Trail (won't be boring) early July this year regardless. Gotta hit those breweries up north!

As others have said, I think its an ok amount of mileage, you should be fine, but don't forget, Vermont is a great state to see and the Long Trail/AT does have its difficulties due to the rocks, mud and roots on the trail, but that makes it fun!

Eastern VT has the trail running up and over repeated ridgelines, while southern VT is along the tops of the Green Mountain ridges to the border. It's a relatively easy 10-12 day hike.

Allow some time to enjoy the lakes (Little Rock Pond, Griffith Lake, Stratton Pond) and if you're hiking in summer or early fall, take a swim.
