Just got in a naw stove Fire Maple titanum. At 1.5 oz. it is definatly small, less then 1/2 oz more then my Alcohol stove. I used it to boil 2 cups tap water and if canto a boil in 3 min 11 sec. It 1/2 the weight and 1/2 the size of my pocket rocket. I'm doing a section hike next week 13 April - 15 April Im going to take it with me and I'll try to do a review. asectoio http://fire-maple.com/admin/uploads/12090304493449253111.jpg (http://fire-maple.com/products_del.html?news_id=75&c_id=5&cate_id=8)

This is a comparison of a pocket rocket and the fire maple

Well I for one, am waiting to choose between what you've introduced here vs. the msr MICROrocket. It's even lighter than the micro....nevermind the pocket!

Stir-fry; how did it go?

I used the stove stove two times on my short section hike. It boiled 2 cups of stream water in under 3 minutes both times. I did not do any cooking on this trip but did try rice at home. It easy to lower the flame to a simmer. The thing I found that I like the most about the stove is that when folded up it fits in my pot along with the caniser of fuel. This set up, 8oz fuel canaser, stove and 900 ml titanum pot is 13 oz. This will last me 7 days. Alcohol stove for the same time is about 21 oz, thats alcohol stove, pot, and 16 oz alcohol. I can't say past Domascus, but before that ther is no problem getting canester fuel. This second generation maple stove can be taken apart if it needs cleaning,(This was a recomendation from Backpacking light, that the manufatruer adopted.). If you are in the market for a light canester stoved I give this stove 4 thumbs up.

Where did you get it?

Thanks SF. But I couldn't wait. lol. When I first saw your OP, I went and researched it, and ordered one, which finally arrived today.

Fits inside my SnowPeak 600 T, along with the small jetboil canister (just barely...had to tie a string around it to pull it up), the SnowPeak "lips", and still my home-made top (from a small nedo can) fits on top.

Tiny, teeny set up for me! Hope it works. Oh, made my own cozy for it to.

Thanks again for your report.

I just did a bit of research and found Hiking Jim's review. http://adventuresinstoving.blogspot.com/search?q=fire+maple

At the bottom, he states:

UPDATE 5 April 2013: There have been some problems reported with jet
blockages in the Fire Maple Hornet. Apparently there is a sintered brass filter
in the base of the jet. If any gunk gets in the filter and blocks the flow of
gas, there is no way to restore flow short of drilling out the filter.
A blockage would be impossible to clear in the field. My
advice is to hold off buying a Hornet until Fire Maple gets the problem
corrected. I'll post an update as more information becomes available.

The 116T is a bit larger, but only 3 grams heavier. http://fire-maple.com/products_del.html?news_id=71&c_id=5&cate_id=8

It's also available under the Olicamp brand. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Olicamp-FMS-116T-Kinetic-Ultra-Titanium-Stove/22209614

The 116T has a longer track record than the 300T.

After trying this stove out, I found it does not work....went out in 2 minutes as though I had run out of gas (I hadn't). Couldn't boil water (obviously), and 2 of the 3 pot stands glowed red.

Don't buy it.

PS: went back to try it at a lower flame (so as not to have the pot holders glowing red), and it still went out in under 2 minutes.

I TAKE IT BACK!!! It seems my canister was dirty, so I cleaned it and it worked just fine. The only thing I'm concerned with is the red-hot glow of the pot holders. Other than that, it seems to be a good stove.

One of the good things about Titanum is its heat resistance. When I worked in the dental indestry we need induction casting to melt Titanum. Very high melting temp.

I just looked and the melting temp. is over 3,000*F. I do not think the stove get any where near that temp.
