I know there was quite a discussion about the GA Death race on the BMT thread, but this story really belongs on the Trail Running/Speed Hiking thread. One of my friends from Florida went up and did this race in GA and has a blog report that is pretty interesting. A2 (Andy, age 47) has a "stream of conciousness" style of writing and I always enjoy reading about his trail running adventures and the challenges he puts himself against. He is one of the nicest guys I know and a very accomplished business professional and family man. He is a "driven" man and you can tell by reading his race reports.

I don't know if the trails suffered as a result of this race, but I suspect all is fine. It has been my experience that the trails usually end up being OK with a race like this, and after a few miles from the race beginning, the runners are very spread out, often miles apart by midway and hours apart near the end.

Nice race report. It sounds like a killer course.
