Caught one in a 'coon set by accident once. I did not want to harm the animal. I ended up rolling a log down the chain and onto the hind end of the beaver. Once I freed the 1 1/2 victor coil spring trap from its rear leg I ran like crazy the other direction. I stood about 50 yards away while it made its way back to the pond. These animals are very powerful, surprisingly quick in short sprints, and have incredible teeth. It is like many animals: Leave them alone, don't irritate them, calmly watch from a distance, and you will be fine. I am sure the one in the video felt trapped/threatened and defended itself. Give wildlife some room and respect and bad things won't happen.

From the same story:

In similar news with a happier ending, the AFP reports that a Komodo dragon "sunk its teeth into" an 83-year-old Indonesian woman on Tuesday -- but she was able to fend it off.
That's one tough lady. Komodo dragons are the closest still living species to T-Rex.

That's one tough lady. Komodo dragons are the closest still living species to T-Rex. Robins (and birds in general) are more closely related to T-Rex, but perhaps not as dangerous. Komodo dragon bites are venomous, it has been recently learned. I wouldn't get too close.

I guess today's beavers are just not being brought up right.
