we dont have spring in GA. we have winter -> pollen -> summer-> and sometimes fall lol... in all seriousness a close friend was just up there last weekend and he said that everything is turning green and flowers are starting to bloom here and there.

I can't speak for springer, however I hiked some blue blazes around blood mtn this past weekend. The summits over 3500 feet look dead and like winter still. Below 2800 feet spring has arrived.

Just my opinion.

Highs of mid 60s lows of low 50s to mid 40s.

here's the weather cam for Lookrock which is at the western end of the Smokies looking east. it also has some weather info. check it out during daylight for a hint on the weather. keep in mind that snow and ice will persist in shaded areas of the trail long after the snow has melted or blown off the trees.

Depends on what elevation you are at and the facing sun exposure. In the Atlanta and Alpharetta GA area at around 1000 ft elev SPRING has definitely sprung! Slept at the Springer Mt Shelter(around 3700 ft elev) with Slo-go-en and Auntie Sarah and two others Tues night Apr 16. Spring still has not entirely sprung up there yet. Buds on tress are swollen but MOSTLY haven't popped yet at that elevation. No dogwoods blossoms(Cornus florida) up there yet although you will see some Serviceberries(Amelanchier laevis, A. arborea, A. sp., etc), some Redbuds(Cercis canadensis), and possibly a few late petering pears and wild cherries.

I spotted plenty of these wildflowers in bloom though: Bloodroot(Sanguinaria canadensis), Star Chcikweed(Stellaria pubera), Blue Flag or Dwarf Violet Iris( probably Iris verna), and quite a few different Violets(Violas sp.) with white, blue, purple and yellow flowers.
