Roof Repairs to Wilcox North Shelter will begin on July 9th and could continue through July 23rd. Project involves removing the roof and replacing it, so the Shelter will not shelter for a while. A few tentsites are nearby and may still be used. Work crews will be using some tentsites.

Work is scheduled to take place on the 12th, 16th, 17th, 19th and 23rd with the bulk of the activity on the 16th and 17th. Feel free to stop by and help.

I only know the AT routes, is there a quicker way to get in there?

The only way I know for sure is to park on Beartown Mtn Road and hike south on the AT, then down to the shelter. I have heard of a direct route from the road to the shelter (original AT) but I have not personally found it yet. If we find it, we'll flag it with colored tape between the road and the shelter.
