So I plan on doing mostly tent camping during my thru but plan to switch to my hammock during warm months for several reasons. Anyway, what do you guys use as a roof for your hammocks when its planned to rain? Looking for cheap and reliable!

Alot of people are very happy with a Wilderness Logic Tadpole tarp, I use a Warbonnet Superfly and I love the thing to death.

Cheap AND reliable for a thru-hike? No can do.
Though a Guide Gear tarp might come closest?

+1 on the WB Superfly tarp. I love mine too. It is also big enough to allow me to hang 2 hammocks under it if needed.
JRB 8x8 tarp. I don't think this model is still sold, but it's light and just big enough to offer good coverage for the hennessey backpacker asym.

If we knew what hammock we could make better recommendations. For a shorter hammock (9') I love my MacCat Deluxe. For my longer hammocks (11') I need my AHE Toxaway.

I just switched from the eno pro rainfly to the warbonnet mamaJamba, it's lighter than the Eno by 8 oz and covers more.

I currently use a MacCat Deluxe in Spinn UL with Pole Mods and graphite pole for my WBBB, that is until a cuben tarp is dropped on my front porch.

I use an 8X10 poly tarp from the hardware store. Bomb proof. Its several ounces heavier than most, but I've ridden out many storms under it. Less than $10.

I forget the brand name but I know for fact that it is 11' long. Everyone seems to be liking the WB Superfly. Im going to look into it.

I'm with BigHodag on this one. You can get a lightweight tarp that'll save you some energy over the millions of steps you take....... but it'll also cost you and might end up tearing in spruce/pine stands. I got me a painters tarp for ten bucks
