Hiked Champney Falls Trail up Chocorua today. Amazing. Alot of snow still out there on the trail. Nasty packed granular and its melting fast! Mt Washington off in the distance.

I always loved climbing Chocorua. Nice easy climb up to a bare summit.

Champney Falls is nice and easy. We had done the Hammond Trail last weekend and it was much more difficult and about 2500 feet climbing. You are right though, Champney Falls was nice and easy even in the loose snow. More pictures are on my hiking blog in my sig.

Many trails are clear and wet

THere are still numerous trail reports that the "rail" (packed hump of ice in the middle of the trail with rotten snow on either side) is still on mnay popular trails around 3000 feet (basically where the woods transition to dense softwoods) It usually takes until Memorial day for the rail to not be an issue.
