Hi all,

I will have 3-4 weeks from the end of may until end of June to section hike part of the AT.

Difficulty of the trail section is no issue. What can you recommend? I am looking into the northern sections of the trail.

Can someone please advise on the "best" section hikes in this region...Vermont vs. Maine

Thanks and appreciate any input.

If Katahdin is open by then (and it should be) just start there and head south. You could possibly get all the way through The Whites and if you do that it will be the best section to hike in the north if difficulty is not an issue. Vermont is muddy and boring.

Anything you do in Maine will be awesome. Vermont should be out of the muddy season but Vermont is beautiful, despite what Fred says. He is correct though that you could start SOBO at Katahdin and get to see some really beautiful trail
