I have a Gossamer Gear Murmur Hyperlight with the big mesh outer pocket which is new for me. Do folks with this setup use a ziplock bag in tendem to protect from water? I don't want to have to put on a packcover with the slightest bit of precip. I have a large loksak bag, but it weights over an ounce.

Any thoughts/experiences would be helpful.

When I use my GG Murmur, I'm usually carrying a poncho. Problem solved. :)

Aren't mesh pockets for things that can get wet, or already are?

I use my murmur with stuff in the mesh pocket that i don't mind getting wet -- my rain fly, and rain gear, primarily... but i do tend to put my pack cover on when it starts to rain at all. I certainly do need to use that extra storage space on that sweet little pack!

All my packs, my Murmur, Gorilla and Zpacks Zero have mesh outer pockets. That is where I carry my rain gear, my rain fly and other items that doesn't hurt to get wet plus wet items that I would like to dry out.

Items in my mesh pocket.
-misc small stuff in small ziplock
-TP in small ziplock.
-bear hang if taken, water resistant.
-headlamp, sometimes but it's waterproof.
-wet stuff

basically, let it rain.
