And it's worth every penny I paid for it. For example, here is how he covered stuff for emergencies:
"You should also carry a whistle for emergencies. A fire starter kit, rain-resistant matches and a hiking knife should also be carried as part of your Appalachian Trail gear."
THAT'S IT -- no discussion of what type of whistle to get, what goes into a fire starter kit, the pros and cons of various emergency fire starters, or anything about what constitutes a good knife.
All of the advice he gives is good, but is covered ten times better here.
