I'll be hiking from the NY/NJ border to Bear Mtn Bridge in a week and would appreciate any information on the water situation through there. Thanx.

We just received a few days worth of rain around ny/nj area, you should bump into plenty of water along your hike.

Enjoy

Interesting we got ~2.5" in new york city but 40 miles north to the trail and it is more like 0.4" I was out in that general area 2 weeks ago, before the rain, and there was plenty of water in the places you would expect it.

Rain was more abundant than I would prefer. All water sources looked pretty free-flowing, but (as usual) they should all be treated.

Would you think it's safe to count on Fingerboard Shelter to have water?

No. NOBO get water at Island Pond, SOBO at Tiorati Circle (tap water).

Last year in Sept I was at fingerboard shelter, only a small streaming puddle down the hill going away from the shelter. So I would get water before hitting up that shelter. Have a great hike.
