I don't know the specific answer to your question, but if it was me i'd 1)check a road map for state parks, 2)check the Companion for nearby hostels, and 3) as a YMCA member go online and check for a close by Y facility.

Laughing Heart Hostel in Hot Springs has showers for $5 without stay.

the trail is 30 minutes from Asheville. SBF has showers and will be what you are looking for

I'm not familiar with the area but you may want to look for a truck stop near a highway. Just a thought.

If you're leaving via I40 Standing Bear is fine. If heading north on 32 thru Cosby, there's a convenience store right outside the Cosby Campground entrance that also has showers.
