I know you can't necessarily predict when Hunt and other summit trails will be fit for hiker traffic, but can you give those of us starting soon a sense of how close those trails are to being firm? Too late to change plans now, but I'm curious....

It's old, really. Named after Gov. Brewster, who followed Gov. Baxter into office. Brewster was the first Governor to climb to Katahdin's summit while in office. Baxter didn't like Brewster, and later placed a plaque naming the spring Thoreau's Spring over the engraving that named it Governor's Spring! Politics on the Tableland!
