I've been hiking the trail in NJ and have noticed new, high quality signs up at trailheads there. They say that in 2013 there will be trail closures and reroutings. Can someone, perhaps from the local NY-NJ club that maintains this part of the trail, please provide info on this? I hiked through that construction area just N of the pass/trailhead at Deckertown Turnpike (County route 650) where a new pipeline is being laid. Does this have something to do with the signs, or is more involved?

Thanks in advance.

This is the trail maintenance group (http://www.nynjtc.org/). I found no mention of reroutes. Maybe send them an email.

Nothing here either. (http://appalachiantrail.org/hiking/trail-updates)

From the maintaining organization: http://www.nynjtc.org/issue/tennesee-gas-pipeline-northern-new-jersey. The map (http://www.nynjtc.org/files/NYNJTC_TennGas-Loop323map.jpg)that they link to shows where the pipeline will intersect the AT. Closures and reroutes will depend on the details of the construction schedule. The questions asked (http://www.nynjtc.org/files/Tennessee%20Gas%20Pipeline07.19.2011.pdf) at a public hearing on the project two years ago give some idea of what's gone on so far.
