I am planning a NOBO Thru-hike in 2013 and researching gear. When the boots wear out and have to be replaced on the trail, how do you break in the new pair of boots or trail runners and avoid the blisters, etc with the new pair? It takes me about 60+ miles to "break-in" a new pair of hiking footwear to where they are comfortable and have that good fit feeling.
Thanks,
Andy

You put them on your feet, and start walking.

Why do you believe new shoes are synonymous with blisters?

Even lightweight trail runners can take a few days to mold to your feet.
That doesnt mean they cause blisters in the mean time.

If you choose footwear that will cause you blisters, I would suggest you have no options other than to take it easy for a few days.
