View Full Version : New to the world of hiking boots. Chaco Tedinho's?

I'm planning on hiking from Harper's Ferry north next year, from late May to September. I tried a pair of Chaco Tedinho's on the other day. I was surprised how comfortable they felt because they seemed so much heavier than my current footwear. Normally I hike in whatever shoes I happen to be wearing, usually vans with holes in the bottoms. As it turns out, they're not as heavy duty as I figured (they're considered "lightweight" boots.) I'm not even sure if they're intended to be hiking boots, and they don't have much tread. As I've never hiked for longer than 3 days before, and never in the type of terrain I will be experiencing on much of the trail, I have no idea what to expect. I've also never really given much thought to wearing boots before. I'm feeling pretty clueless. I'll add a link to their page, so you know exactly what I'm talking about. Anybody have any input for me?
