I wonder if the Appalachian trail chaplain is still on the trail or if he even started?

I wonder how far all the "I'm gonna hike the whole trail on a $1000 budget" people got? (looks like I spent a little over a grand to get to Marion, VA or ~ $2 a mile)

I wonder where all the hikers with dogs I met early on went? It seemed for the first week or so everyone had a dog with them. Never seen so many "thru-hikers" with dogs before. After the Smokies, didn't see a one.

To anwer my own question about the Chaplain, found thier facebook page and he is still on the trail, looks very well feed and he just made it to Pearisburg. He must of been just a day or two ahead of me when I got off at Marion this last Monday.
