How safe, relatively speaking, is it to leave a car at WS for 5-6 days?

I have left my car sitting their for 3-4 weeks at a time with no problems, so it's pretty safe, but if you are un-comfortable about it, leave the vehicle at Rock Gap which is 2 trail miles south of WSG.

I've left mine there for several overnight hikes in the area in the past. Have had no issues. However, I've heard of some problems in the past. Good luck. :)

Wouldn't leave it at Winding Stair.

I didn't have any trouble leaving a car there during a weekend section hike this past January. I was told that the sheriff sits there at the gap a good bit. There will always be a debate on which is safer - somewhere very visible or somewhere out of sight.

There has definitely been vandalism there in the past to cars left overnight.
Generally not recommended. Appalachian Trail Parking, a website hosted by David and Cyndi Rohland. (http://appalachiantrail.rohland.org/)
