Hello. I contacted a person from the Georgia Appalachian Trail club for a shuttle ride for the above two gaps. Is it just me or does $65 sound a little high for 2 people to be shuttled one way?

$2 per mile is standard. It's a minumum of a 64 mile drive for the Shuttler.

Well, if the shuttler lived in Ellijay he'd have about a 15 mile drive to fs42. He's on fs42 for 6 miles to Springer, and then another 15+ miles on fs 42 to Gooch Gap. Double that (he's got to get home) and we've got 30 miles on paved roads and 42+ on the forest service road. Plus his time. Sounds like a fair deal to me.

Actually, sounds reasonable.

I am not familiar with the area and didn't know about the mileage. Now that someone explained it, it's fine. Thanks.

Jax o's, who did you use for the shuttle? I am looking to hopefully have 3 days from Springer to Neeks Gap or so. Trying to figure out a ride since I will be by myself.

Just recently paid $65 to be shuttled from Woody Gap down to the small parking area at the base of Springer via FS 42. The shuttler lived in Suches. Thought that was a reasonable price for the time/distance. :)

It is a bargain.

Yeah, doesn't seem like it should cost so much, since it's what, less than 20 trail miles? But you can't get there from here, by car anyway.
