Hi all!

Looking for secure parking advice/options for the trail head at Big Branch USFS #10. Thinking of hiking as far as Clarendon Gorge and hitching back to the car. I have out of country plates.

Thanks very much for your advice. :D Gar

I actually just parked there this past weekend. No issues for me and I did not see any glass in the parking lot.

To find this forest service road in Danby look for a street sign that says Brooklyn Rd. It's one and the same.

It was snowing one Easter Sunday morning many years ago when I came out of the woods here. I was standing in the parking lot next to my truck, stripped to my shorts taking a water bottle shower, when a car full of tourists pulled in and gaped at me for a few moments before quickly turning around and heading back down the mountain. I think I ruined their Easter outing.

Gar, you’re welcome. The hiking shoe will be on the other foot later this year
when I visit your beautiful country with a foreign license plate. :)

I would make sure you have comprehensive insurance if you park anywhere near Danby overnight:

This just happened within the past few weeks:

Sad reminder that there are people who get thrills when destroying the property of others.

They didn't say it was set intentionally though. Could it have been an electrical malfunction? Seems like a pretty extreme thing to do to someone...
