I hope I post this correctly. This is a video of WVa black bears where you can see just how sensitive their sense of smell is! This hunter had just finished a candy bar and those bears could SMELL it from way far away! Also..just telling them to "git" works very well.

I'm trying to get over my new found fear of bears by "desensitizing" myself by watching bear videos. I don't know if it is helping, or making it worse! LOL
I had a bear nightmare last year that has stayed with me...but I encountered three bears a week ago on a hike and wasn't scared at all. I think it's just sleeping "out there" that is bothering me.

The first video is my worse fear...mamma with cubs. The hunter must have masked his scent really well. The bears acted like they didn't even know he was there until he spoke.

A lot of deer hunters put "Doe Scent" on there boots while walking to there stands & climbing their trees. This isn't a rare occasions while hunting, they are looking for food.
