Ceremony to Honor Edward C. Pulaski Planned for August: On August 20, The Pulaski Project, a private non-profit organization based in Wallace, Idaho, plans to dedicate a trail leading to the mine tunnel where 45 men took shelter from a blow-up of the Great Idaho Fire of 1910. Forest Service employee Edward C. Pulaski led the men to the tunnel and is credited with saving their lives. Pulaski is also famous for modifying a tree-planting tool to create a firefighting tool that is still in use today and bears his name – The Pulaski. Senator Larry Craig from Idaho and USDA Under Secretary Mark Rey, plan to participate in the dedication along with local Forest Service personnel.

Pulaskis are used in trail maintenance also.
