"Anyway, you should get a pair. Of shoes. Not necessarily these, although I can’t complain so far."

About how I feel about most gear, too. :sun

Spot on and an entertaining read. Thanks for sharing Mags.

It's also why thru hikers stop talking about gear after a while.

The best pair of hiking shoes I've had so far were no-names from Sears for $30ish. Not one blister in about 800 miles and still using them for mowing the lawn. They feature laces, eye holes, a sole and some kind of fabric. They are also blueish in color.

Looks like they should be included in the hiker funk thread. I like smallish gear outfitter stores like Wilderness Exchange that blow out hiking gear at wholesale prices because they reduce hiking gear inventory in late summer/early fall to make room for sking/snowboarding gear. I bought two new prs of $120 retail each Montrails there last fall for a total of $70. That's $240 retail for $70. They had my size 14 wides too. Shweet!
