Are there any pools or other public swimming areas near Harper's Ferry. I'm bringing a cross country team to stay at Highacre House for a week and I know they'd like to swim. Please don't say the rivers.

Try Jefferson memorial park in C town or Brunswick pool in MD. I won't mention the excellent swimming holes right there in both the doah and potomac.

I've swam at the confluence when rafting once. But I wouldn't recommend it as a swimming hole per se.

The Potomac River has dangerous rapids in that area.

Yeah, this is a public school trip. I think the school board would frown on me taking them to the river to swim with no lifeguards.

Greenbrier State Park is a 20 minute drive or a 20 mile hike up the AT. They've a got lake you can swim in.

Lovettsville, VA (right around the corner up 340 then down 17) has a community center with a swimming pool. There's a fee to swim and the pool has lifeguards.

Thanks for the advice everyone. We tried Lovettsville but it was at capacity. So we ended up doing a tubing trip. With 100+ heat indexes and Highacre not being air-conditioned it was a nice trip.
