I almost put this in the running forum, but I figured the health aspect of the story made more sense to put in this forum. I really do believe attitude goes a long way in combating illness. I know it's not a scientific opinion, but until science can cure a given malady, I'm using my hardheadedness to fight my issues with what I believe is chronic lyme disease.

But I don't think I'll be doing a marathon a day:)

Danish woman runs 366 marathons in 365 days

Published July 16, 2013

A Danish woman who said she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis three years ago just completed a marathon of marathons, running her 366th in 365 days.

Annette Fredskov, 41, of Naestved, ran 26.2 miles every day and wrapped up her feat on July 14 by running a double marathon -- 52.4 miles -- in 10 hours and 44 minutes, CPHPost.DK reported.

After being diagnosed with MS, Fredskov decided to run to try to overcome the disease.

"Three years ago, I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis and today I have -- without any medication -- no problems or symptoms of MS. I believe that running marathons has played a large role in the fact that I am healthy today," Fredskov wrote on her website. "Two years ago, I thought the same thing most people think: 'Running a marathon isn’t healthy. A marathon is damaging to the body and it takes a long time to recover.' I have now changed my mind. Marathons are the best things that have happened for my body and soul."

Dozens of supporters ran with Fredskov as she completed mile 9,589.2, CPHPost.DK reported.

Fredskov began her challenge on July 15, 2012. Most of the marathons took Fredskov about five hours, and took place in her Naestved, her hometown, which is an hour south of Copenhagen.

Here is a somewhat less extreme treatment for MS.

http://nutritionfacts.org/2013/05/21/plant-based-diets-for-multiple-sclerosis/

The distinguished neurologist Roy Swank (http://www.drmcdougall.com/misc/2009nl/jan/ms.htm)‘s low saturated fat diet remains the “most effective treatment of multiple sclerosis ever reported (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22666902) in the peer review literature.” In patients with early stage MS, 95% were without progression of their disease 34 years after adopting his meat and dairy-restricted diet. Even patients with initially advanced disease showed significant benefit. To date, no medication or invasive procedure has ever come close to demonstrating such success.

It would be interesting to know her diet and how many calories she burned.

Very interesting and thanks for posting. Coincidentally, I'm participating in an MS fundraising walk in September.
