Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I'm a hiking newbie. I read a couple books about thru-hiking the AT and caught Hiking Fever. My wife and I are starting to do day hikes on the weekends. I'm hoping to do a week-long hike along the AT next summer.

Buttmonkey is a name I've been using on RPG forums for years. I got it from an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. One of the characters was griping about all the bad stuff that had happened to him over the years (cursed with diseases by a Chumash tribe ancestral spirit, almost killed by a girlfriend who turned out to be a mummy, brain washed by Dracula, etc.). The character finished by saying, "I'm tired of being everyone's buttmonkey." I always liked that line.

Howdy Buttmonkey... we have a Winged Monkey but no Buttmonkey until now. :) Welcome!!
There are many AMAZING sections and many that are not WOWS!
Section hiking, coming from Iowa..........as the timing gets closer WB members will be glad to share their favorite spots. Time of year will change direction of the commentary.
