Re-read the article. It's not "powdered beer", it's beer concentrate. It's still liquid.

Isn't the shortfall dragging the CO2 tank down the trail.

They claim they have some 'light weight' solution for that. We will have to wait to see what that means. The article claims it will be coming to US and Canada in mid-September.

I am thinking that this might persude me to go back to cooking..................this with brown rice and beans, NO EXTRA carbonation needed.

I fear that if you decide to go with the powder, the Beer Gods will rain their wrath upon you!
My advice, wait till you get to town and get the real stuff :)

Amazingly the flavors they're going to be producing sound good too. I love me some black ale. But they don't say anything about the alcoholic content, though from the description of the process they're using it sounds like there will be some alcohol content.

^ This. I will however try it out to see how it tastes, even though I can't imagine it being very good.

Check out pats backcountry beer at http://www.patsbcb.com/. It's beer concentrate at a 1:15 ratio so you just add water. They say on the site they anticipate launching the beer concentrates in early 2013. Hot diggity

Thank you Miassis Dragon, the original article was also about 'Pats beer concentrate'. Looks like Pat is already selling Soda concentrates and a Carbonator if anyone wants to try that out. I will wait for the beer.

One thing I do not understand is how he will deal with the varied and complicated laws relating to the sale of alcohol. Ever try to get a have beer shipped to you? Good luck with that.

scotty, I assume selling beer concentrate would be through the physical stores that he shows on the map. Or maybe through local beer distributers. I've been watching his site for a couple of years now. Sometimes good things take time.
