Friends and I are backpacking that weekend. Just looking for someone to meet us and drop us off.
What are your pickup /dropoff locations and times?

We would like someone to drop us at the US 431 trailhead around 2 pm on that Friday. In just looking the the Pinhoti Trail Alliance information the FS 500 trailhead puts us only going 9.5 miles and I'm not sure about leaving a vehicle there, but the Pine Glen trailhead is another 13 miles and puts a few too many at 22 over two half and one full days. Any suggestions? Thanks

If you hike south from 431 TH to Cheaha TH it would be 17 miles.
I am leary of leaving a car at 431 overnight as it seems to be used by some of the locals for drinking and target practice.
I live fairly close and would give you a ride but it is likely I will be out of state.

Thanks Bob, this is Kris Riddle from the Stephen King crew. King called you a couple of weeks ago and you weren't available and suggested us posting here. Time before last we did from 431 back to the Cheaha Trailhead, you dropped us off, and that worked out great. Just trying to figure out something for heading from 431 trailhead north that's around the same mileage. Plus we need a shuttle of course.

there is a nice older man, or couple, that lives just east of the US 431 crossing that I asked about leaving a food bag in his garage on my 6 nighter last year. You could take a chance and ask him if you could leave your car there for a proper tip.

If you go north from 431 to USFS 531 at mile 112.8 that would give you 16.1 miles.
There is a small area at the trail crossing for parking and lower Shoal shelter is only
1.2 miles further north.
