Sad story. When I first saw it over the weekend I sort of had a feeling this wouldn't turn out well. Life imitates art imitating life.

I think of myself as being very capable in the woods, but certainly know my limitations and would never consider trying what Christopher McCandless did - he marched into certain death and was ignorant of it until it was far too late. You would think his tragic story would be a warning rather than an inspiration...

It appears the "Into the Wild" connection is only coincidental. His body was found 1000ft from his SUV and they are investigating this as a suicide. Not exactly the epic adventure he'd led his parents to believe he was embarking on.

Yeah it sort of looks like the media grabbed onto the Into the Wild thread to hype up the story.
