I have a few trail maps I use a lot. They are in good shape except for the creases are worn out. Will a map seal work?

Use clear packing tape on both sides and you'll have a laminated map.

Or take it somewhere that can laminate it...

I tried it on a map of Ft. Polk, LA in 2010 and the map was done in one rainstorm. You can buy lamination paper (sometimes sold as acetate) and laminate the map yourself. I typically cut my maps into sections to make them easier to handle when I only have one hand free.

I love map seal.
But if you already have a bad creases, I don't think map seal is going to "hold it together". Might be better to start with a new map.

You can laminate it yourself at a FedEx Office (formerly Kinkos)

I scan and duplicate maps or download then print with the map paper* that holds an image or stick it in vesquine or page protectors. standard tape does the rest. I can put a duplicate on the phone Just in case.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to get a new map and give the map seal a try. I think I'll try taping the old maps as well but sometimes the creased areas are what I need to read

I have one of these. Works good for up to 8.5x11 page sized sheets. It's not too expensive and HF always has 20% off coupons available somewhere.

+1 as well. Inexpensive and easy. Not the easiest stuff to find. Used for kitchen shelves.
