I picked a regular teaspoon and the spork and I do not even need a scale there is major difference. The most popular now is the lone handled aluminum spoon. It allows you to get into mountain house type foods. It is also very light.

Franco

Titanium is not particularly light (aluminium is lighter) but very strong. So it can be made light ,as with pots, by making the walls very thin.
Still, in emergency your Ti spoon could become a tent stake..

teacher and snacktime. I had one of those. they break in the cold. Plus, the hollow handle dribbles, walmart sporks break in the cold too.

I have a wood spoon, that is the same size, I bought in Mexico for 10 pesos (80 cents prox.). It weighs 1/2 oz. I am more impressed with it now that I have weighed it.

Tipi, I remember you well, crawling out from under your 80 lb. pack when I met you, like the survivor of a train wreck. <G>

I have seen many broken plastic sporks on the Thru, Yes they are lighter, but not durable. They are also less satisfying to use. I was gifted a Ti spork (Snow Peak), and it was not the lightest, and also the long handle ending in prongs made it somewhat difficult to pack. I soon discovered that it was the perfect tool for eating however, as it was strong, no chance of breaking, and long to get to the bottom of FD or ziplock bags. I ended up clipping it to the outside of my pack instead.

I was very disappointed, and a bit annoyed when my hiking partner Splash borrowed my Ti spork right before I arrived for the half gallon challenge and had to use the plastic and wooden spoon. Yes I'm still trying to get over that one.

Seems like my long-handled Ti spoon is significantly lighter than our house stuff. Maybe the OPs household spoons are light? I have an abundance of MRE spoons which are decent until you leave it in the pot after stirring something and it melts. The Ti spoon was accidentally dropped into teh fire one night (post hike bourbon was served before dinner was served) and the spoon suffered only some discoloration. In the same situation with a wood spoon I'd still be wondering what forest gnome had run off with my spoon.

I am the same type of hiker, so I don't really find it necessary to lighten up my load much. If I were going on week-long and longer section hikes, i definitely would invest in a titanium spoon!!! lol As it is, I enjoy carrying a small bottle of hooch, a Helinox chair, and mid-grade sleeping bag, pad, and tent. For thousands of years your ancestors didnt have toilet paper.

The reason people today need it is poor diet, overweight fat butt cheeks, and lazy crapping while sitting down.

Eat decent, be lean, assume the natural position, and you dont need toilet paper either.

If you eat freezer bag , or even mountain house, a hole in the corner of a bag is all thats needed, and squeeze it out into your mouth. Works BETTER than eating with a utensil.

If you cook and eat out of a bowl or pot, just might need to make a set of chopsticks, pretty easy to do.

I have a spoon in bamboo (second from the left) but interestingly at about 10g it is almost twice the weight of the one next to it .
The one I use is the first on the left because of the longer handle.
About 20g , strong enough to be a make-do tent stake.
